The rumors are hitting hard on ‘Justice League: Part One’ and while we’ve known for awhile that Willem Dafoe (‘Spider-Man’,’Platoon’) had been cast in the movie we may have just learned who he is set to play! This one seems to go hand in hand with another rumor that is spreading like wildfire which involves the introduction to the first ‘Justice League’ movie so what we’re about to say could have some major spoilers included. Also ahead are details on how part of the film will be shot but as it ties directly into this rumor we’ll put that down below as well.

First up, we’ve learned that since no one was happy with how Jason Momoa looked in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ (most agree he seemed to be holding his breath in a tank of water), rumor has it that we’ll see all of the underwater sequences being shot in a different way. According to BirthMoviesDeath:

In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Aquaman’s cameo was marred by the fact that Jason Momoa was very, very clearly holding his breath in a water tank. Like, his cheeks are all puffy as if he were chilling on the bottom of the pool at his parents’ house. It’s not a good look for an amphibious hero. My sources tell me that rather than shoot in a water tank this time Zack Snyder has set up an elaborate rig on a green screen stage – it’s a two armed rig, with Momoa clutched in one arm while the camera is clutched in the other. They two arms are preprogrammed to move in sync so that Momoa can do all kinds of maneuvers while the camera moves around him. I’m assuming there’s a similar rig for more elaborate flying stuff. Momoa’s hair will be CGIed into a flowy, underwater look.

How does that matter for Dafoe’s casting? It sounds as if he is lined up to play an Atlantean in the movie. While some may hope he could play Aquaman’s father, a rumor about Darkseid popped up earlier this week. In it, we’ve learned that the introduction has a flashback:

“Around 30,000 years ago, the Amazonians, the Atlanteans, and Man successfully fought off Darkseid here on Earth.”

If this proves true and is an extended flashback, I suspect that Dafoe will be one of these ancient Atlanteans.

Are you looking forward to seeing Willem Dafoe jumping ships from Marvel to DC when ‘Justice League: Part One’ is released? Do you think we’ll see him in the past or present day DC Cinematic Universe? Share your thoughts below!

‘Justice League – Part One’ directed by Zack Snyder is slated to open on November 17, 2017, while ‘Aquaman’ directed by James Wan will swim into theaters on July 27, 2018.
