When ‘Jessica Jones‘ premiered on Netflix, it wasn’t only one of the best offerings from the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the best superhero show from last year. Many would agree that it was actually one of the best television programs overall of 2015. With a distinction like that, it not hard to believe that the series starring Krysten Ritter received a second season almost immediately. However, we didn’t get a timeline for when we’d be seeing it when that announcement was made. But now it appears that we have a slightly better idea of when the binging can begin again.

For those of you keeping track at home, ‘Luke Cage’ starring Mike Colter as the hero with the impenetrable skin hits the popular streaming service this fall. ‘Iron Fist’ featuring Finn Jones is shooting as we speak, so when that’s completed, all the pieces will be in place for ‘The Defenders’, which is meant to begin production under ‘Daredevil’ showrunners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez later this year. So where does that leave Jess, Trish Walker, and Alias Investigations on the schedule?

During a recent interview with Digital Spy, Ritter revealed that season two would start up immediately after she teams up with the other street level heroes of the MCU:

“They’ll be back-to-back. I don’t know if they’ll overlap a little bit. It’s about to be a serious undertaking. I’m starting my physical training—lots of weight training and boxing.”

Though the actress wouldn’t discuss whether or not we’d be seeing her character in Cage’s solo series or at some other point before the Defenders assemble, Ritter did tease some potential details for what the second season of her show could entail:

“I’m excited to see what happens next for Jessica, and the end of season one left a lot of doors open and questions unanswered. Kilgrave was her reason for getting up every morning. Saving people gave her purpose. I wonder how emotionally taxed she’s going to be now. That opens a lot of doors as to who will come out and play. We all live in the same universe, so there are endless possibilities.”

Are you excited for ‘Jessica Jones’ Season Two? What sort of cases do you think the badass detective will have to contend with now that Kilgrave is no more? And how well do you think our heroine will play with others when she’s on a team of superheroes? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
