Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

While we know that Robin clearly didn’t make it through Batman’s past in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘ but we didn’t know for sure which Robin ended up dying. The official Instagram account for the film though made a post recently which may have actually just clarified who was Batman’s Boy Wonder in the movies. Now, this isn’t an official announcement and could just have been someone making a geeky statement as a tribute to the comics.

So how did that happen? Well first let’s take a look at what Instagram posted:

So what is so significant about this 20 years comment? Well, actually it is the comment along with the date that this was posted: April 27th, 2016. What happened 20 years prior to that date? Nothing really! But 31 years ago on that day something quite significant occurred.

That would be when The Joker beat Jason Todd, aka Robin, to a very bloody death. As the timeline in the movies and comics won’t absolutely line up, it could be the date that truly matters here. It COULD also just be a coincidence. Honestly, my money is on a comic geek being in charge of the account that just wanted to do an unofficial shout out to the story arc. It always could be a hint as to who really was Robin which could lead into a Red Hood story arc down the line. I have a feeling more of this history will be explored in the stand alone ‘Batman’ movie but we still have quite a bit of time before that one hits the big screen.

Do you think this is confirmation that Jason Todd was Robin prior to the events of ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ or was it more likely a social media manager having some fun? If not Todd, who do you think is the Robin that Joker apparently killed? Share your thoughts below!
