We’ve just learned that Ana de Armas (‘Knock Knock’,’War Dogs’) has joined the cast of ‘Blade Runner 2‘ in one of the lead roles! While most of the film is shrouded in mystery we do know that on screen Armas will be joining Harrison Ford who will be back as Rick Deckard as well as Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, and Dave Bautista. As Ford, Armas, and Gosling are the leads we’ll all be eagerly awaiting to see if either Gosling or Armas will end up being Ford’s child in the film and his eventual killer assuming ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ is any indication of his on screen future.

Too soon?

At this point, we do know that Ford is a major character in the film but they could just as easily be using him as a bridge to introduce a new set of actors to further the franchise down the line. I hope that isn’t the case and doubt Ford would write off on that but maybe he just took this role and the next Indiana Jones installment to bring all of his iconic characters to a close.

According to Alcon Entertainment co-founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson:

We think Ana is one of the most exciting, up-and-coming international actors in the world today, and we are thrilled she will be playing such an important part in this sequel.

Obviously, there is no word at this time as to who Armas will be playing and if she’ll end up as a human or replicant. With the original film having created such a rich universe there are so many ways they could take this one.

Are you looking forward to ‘Blade Runner 2’? Do you think we’ll be following similar plot lines as the original or will Deckard be leading us into an entirely new mess/ Share your thoughts below!

‘Blade Runner 2’ will be appearing on the big screen on October 6, 2017.
