Just when you least expected it, it’s an all new Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! This week we’re building up to two of the biggest holidays on the 2016 Nerd Calendar, ‘ALIEN’ Day on 4/26 and ‘Star Wars’ Day on 5/4! It’s kind of crazy that we live in a world where there are whole days dedicated to celebrating amazing films from our favorite genre, but even more amazing that we get some truely awesome toys out of it to help us celebrate! Without further delay, here’s the Toy News for the week of April 12th, 2016!
This Cat Has Got Claws!
With Marvel Studios mega blockbuster ‘Captain America: Civil War’ coming to theaters in just a few short weeks, promotions for the film are ramping it up into high gear! People can’t seem to get enough of this movie, and it isn’t even in theaters yet! The team at Hot Toys is looking to feed collectors needs with yet another all new figure based on the upcoming film, with their recently announced ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Black Panther 1:6th scale figure! This Wakandan King / Superhero is making his live action premiere in this upcoming film, so it’s only fitting that we’re getting our first ever 1:6th scale figure of him in this line rather than having to wait for his standalone film! Black Panther here features a newly developed body type and an extremely textured suit, and includes several alternative sets of hands and a figure stand! Marvel’s epic blockbuster, Captain America: Civil War, will finally begin hitting theatres around the world this month! Many fans are anxious to see how the story will unfold as their favorite heroes are taking opposing sides over the government’s system accountability to oversee and direct the Avengers.
One of the most anticipated highlights of the exciting blockbuster is the debut of the African nation Wakanda’s powerful warrior, the Black Panther, and today, Hot Toys is thrilled to officially reveal the 1/6th scale collectible figure of this new supporter of #TeamIronMan!

Toys R Us Gets New Exclusive Minimates
Store exclusives have always been one way to give collectors more incentive to shop around, and few companies know that better than Toys R Us! They’ve been in this game longer than a lot of major toy companies, so it comes as no surprise to hear that they have teamed with Diamond Select Toys once again to bring us not one, but TWO new waves of Toys R Us Exclusive Minimates this month!
First up is an all new wave of Marvel Minimates! This new wave is Marvel Minimates Toys R Us Series 66! This wave is based on ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and features several characters that will still be available at other stores. Figures in this wave include Captain America with Winter Soldier, and Iron Man with Black Panther, but you will only be able to find the new Phasing Vision with Hawkeye at Toys R Us Stores!
On top of some awesome new Marvel Minimates, Toys R Us is also getting a new series of ‘ALIENS‘ Minimates! Once again, several of these figures are available elsewhere or in previous waves, but this is the only place to get quite a few of these unique pieces! This wave includes a Glow Alien with Apone, a Screaming Xenomorph with Ripley and an Extra-Damaged Alien with Drake!
Both of these waves are hitting Toys R Us Stores now!
Super7 Celebrates ‘ALIEN’ Day With New ReAction
While they have been teaming with Funko for some time now to bring their ReAction line of retro styled figures to the masses, the team at Super7 are still working diligently on their own to make some fun new exclusive figures and specialty items that you won’t want to miss! In just a few weeks, we will be celebrating ‘ALIEN’ day on April 26 (or 4/26, which is in reverence to LV426, the moon where the first Xenomorph Egg was discovered in 1979’s ‘ALIEN’). Fans can expect to find some new Boba Fett products including various sizes of Tsum Tsums, a Project Legion Series Helmet featuring a Boba Fett themed design, a re-release of the ‘Star Wars Elite Series’ die cast 6″ scale Boba Fett (the rest of this series if being re-released as well), and a new Prototype Armor Boba Fett Elite Series figure! These are just what is being shown in the recently distributed flyer,s o who knows what other bounty hunter themed goodies we may find in stores on May 4th!
More One:12 Collective Inbound From Mezco
The team at Mezco have been keeping busy with their already super popular One:12 Collective line of 6″ scale figures! This week they’ve given us a sneak peek at one new figure, while giving us the full rundown on another!
While it’s just a tease for now, Mezco have offered a behind the scenes glimpse at the upcoming Green Arrow figure from their DC Comics One:12 Collective line! This thing looks fantastic, even if these are just early looks at the figure sculpt! The details on this figure look great already, and if it’s even remotely on par with the other figures that have already been released, this new Green Arrow may be one of the best figures in this line.

McFarlane ‘Fears’ The Walking Dead
Our friends over at McFarlane Toys have posted a first look at their new Madison Clark 7″ scale figure from ‘Fear The Walking Dead’! This figure is going to be part of their ‘Color Tops’ collection of figures, which will be comprised of various figures from a number of different properties so that we can get certain figures we may not see otherwise without a full wave! Madison is due to hit stores this summer, but until then here is the rundown from McFarlane Toys-
