So it sounds like we’re going to be getting a televised version of ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space‘. Don’t get me wrong, as a fan of B horror movies I loved this one. It’s just the fact that Hollywood has to remake every classic franchise as an ongoing television series these days has me worried how serious they are about having this stick to its roots.

The upside is that the news comes from who is the original director, co-writer, and Klown puppeteer. He was recently asked about the planned big screen 3D sequel which had been in the works and was initially due out in 2012 and was good to go short of distribution. It looks like times have changed and now we’re getting a show instead of the movie. According to Chiodo:

“Right now, we are currently pursuing a long arch series for cable. We wondered, should we do a sequel to the first one or do we do a remake? We came up with a ‘requel’ – it’s a sequel and a remake. We’ve been developing this for a while. It’s a trilogy in four parts, and it really follows the continuing adventures of new people who are experiencing this phenomenon of a Klown invasion, and once in a while you see some of the old guys pop up and hear their stories – find out what happened over the last 25 years. It’s fucking great.”

With the original creator involved and the show being a sequel/reboot in a film that can get away with it, this could actually be good! Clowns are creepy and Klowns are even worse as anyone who has experienced the 1988 cult classic.

What is strange, however, is his comments about both an ongoing series as well as it being a trilogy in four parts. It makes me wonder if they are trying to make more movies or if they are kicking this off with a four season run in mind.

Are you excited to hear that the ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’ is making a comeback? Do you think that they can find the same love that ‘Ash Vs? Evil Dead’ has found on Stars or has ‘Scream Queens’ filled your B Movie horror quota on TV? Share your thoughts below!
