For a show that started off as spies trying to save the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ has evolved by shifting its primary focus from espionage to Inhuman activity. Although, there are two elements of the team that still maintains the original idea of the series: Agents Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter. The former husband and wife always use their secret spy tactics to complete their missions, but it looks like it wasn’t enough on this week’s episode.
Ahead of tonight’s new episode, Entertainment Weekly has shared a new clip from the season three episode titled ‘Parting Shot’. In this sneak peek, Mockingbird has been taken into custody by the Russian government. The official even spouts off some very serious charges that the pair are facing. But how did they find themselves in this situation? You’ll have to see the episode to find out, but catch a glimpse of the proceedings right here:
If you were listening carefully, the Interpol agent said that Bobbi and Hunter are former S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Could this be foreshadowing the events of the upcoming ’S.H.I.E.L.D.’ spinoff starring Nick Blood and Adrianne Palicki titled ‘Most Wanted’? That’s certainly a possibility, but by the sounds of executive producer Jeffrey Bell’s comments, having more of the beloved characters on the show has a two-fold purpose. While speaking to IGN, Bell said that they want to use as much of the duo as possible before they’re taken off the table and sent on their own adventure:
“We hope one day they may have their own show. But while they’re on S.H.I.E.L.D., we want to take advantage of who they are, and give the audience as much of their relationship with one another, and with other people, as possible to make that really satisfying. We are aware that there is a potential imminent end, and so they won’t be neglected.”
What do you think about this look at the newest episode of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’? Do you think that it’s setting up the events of ‘Most Wanted’? And will you miss Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter when they break off from the team for their spinoff? Sound off in the comments.
‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ starring Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Nick Blood, Adrianne Palicki, Chloe Bennet, Henry Simmons, Luke Mitchell, and Clark Gregg airs on Tuesdays at 9:00pm on ABC.
