Luc Besson (‘The Fifth Element’,’La Femme Nikita’) might be busy with the upcoming ‘Taken’ television series (which will be a prequel to his popular films of the same name), but that isn’t keeping him from working on ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets‘, a possibly sequel to ‘Lucy‘, and now a pilot episode for ‘Artificial Intelligence’ for TNT. Not much is known about the series as of yet but we know that he is working with Bill Wheeler and EuropaCorp TV USA on it. The plot follows an advanced AI which escapes from the lab where it was created and being kept in order to follow “its own mysterious agenda.” After that, the AI’s creator must assemble a team of experts to stop it before it can follow through on its plans.

TNT has recently been attempting more serious dramas that aren’t just new riffs on ‘Law & Order’ and if the success of ‘The Last Ship’ has proven anything, it’s that they do have an audience for genre material. With Besson involved, I have high hopes for the show but we’ll have to see if it can outlast the two seasons that ‘The Transporter’ survived. With much of the network’s offerings being more procedural in nature, it will be interesting to see if this will be a procedural science fiction series or straight up action.

What are your thoughts on TNT bringing ‘Artificial Intelligence’ to the small screen? Do you think the show has potential from who is involved and what scant details we’ve been given? Share your thoughts below!
