legends-of-tomorrow-jonah-hexWhile we don’t yet have a clear look at the face of DC’s most famous western themed hero actor Johnathon Schaech has teased a bit of his upcoming look for Jonah Hex in DC’s ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ on The CW. While he isn’t ready to show off the full look (as I’m sure it is meant to be a bit of a surprise), he did share that getting prepared takes around 2 hours in wardrobe. Now that is showing the commitment of the show to truly bringing this gunfighter to life.

I’m not just referring to the Wanted Poster sketch either as Schaech shared his look on Instagram. With his face covered up blocking all of the scars they’ve added to him, it is a great view of how the rest of his effects makeup has been done.

The show is describing Hex exactly how you would picture him from the comic:

A true legend of the Old West, a morally ambiguous gunslinger with a penchant for danger. Surprisingly, he knows a thing or two about time travel and the future, but is at home in the Wild West. He’s been battling outlaws and gangs for awhile now, and advises the team to be extra careful when they arrive in the small town of Salvation.

Sounds about right, don’t you think? As for how he looks? No visuals of the scarred face quite yet but the rest of him appears to be pretty spot on.

The great thing about time travel is that the network is able to take advantage of these characters who otherwise don’t get to see the light of day that often on the big or small screen. Of course, Hex did have his own film which was fun even if it was a financial flop.

Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim says:

“Ever since we decided that Legends would involve time travel, we were eager to do a story set in the Old West. But if you’re going to do a story set in the DC Universe version of the Old West, you simply MUST include Jonah Hex in it. We’re thrilled about bringing another well known, beloved DC character to television.”

Set to appear in the eleventh episode of the season there is no word as to if Hex will be a recurring character. Knowing the network, it wouldn’t surprise me if they tried to find a way to spin him off into his own series from this.

Are you looking forward to Jonah Hex showing up on ‘Legends of Tomorrow’? Do you feel that this is a character who have a fun and unique spinoff series or should he best kept as just a guest character on this series? Share your thoughts below!
