Doctor Who

Chris Chibnall has joined ‘Doctor Who’ as the new showrunner and has since tried to ensure that no spoilers are released ahead of the upcoming season. So far, this has proven to be an exercise in futility, as footage from the first episode has been leaked, along with pictures of Jodie Whittaker’s TARDIS.

It would seem that Chibnall finally got the upper hand on the information release! On Monday, BBC America announced the writers and directors for Whittaker’s adventures as the iconic Time Lord.

The writers include Malorie Blackman, who has written over 60 children and YA novels, and Vinay Patel, who wrote ‘Murdered By My Father.’ Directors for the new season include Sallie Aprahamian from British TV show ‘Teachers and This Life’, and Mark Tonderai, who made 2012’s ‘House at the End of the Street’ starring Jennifer Lawrence.

Chibnall released a statement about the team of writers and directors, saying:

“We have a team of writers who’ve been working quietly and secretly for a long time now, crafting characters, worlds and stories to excite and move you. A set of directors who stood those scripts up on their feet, bringing those ideas, visuals and emotions into existence with bravura and fun. Hailing from a range of backgrounds, tastes and styles, here’s what unites them: they are awesome people as well as brilliant at their job. (It matters!) They love ‘Doctor Who.’ And they’ve all worked above and beyond the call of duty in an effort to bring audiences something special, later this year.”
