‘Batman V Superman’ may kick off the ‘Dawn of Justice’ when it opens in March, but come August, darkness will fall over the burgeoning DC Cinematic Universe, when the villains take centerstage in David Ayer’s ‘Suicide Squad’.  The roster of Task Force X is filled with some big names including Will Smith as Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevigne as The Enchantress and of course the highly anticipated– and scrutinized– debut of Jared Leto as The Joker.  But it’s possible that the most anxiously awaited appearance is that of The Joker’s “puddin'” Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie. First introduced on ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ in the early 90s, Harley Quinn has become one of the most famous and visible comic book characters in the world and this marks her first big screen appearance.  Robbie has already proven magnetic in the role in the trailers that we have seen so far. Robbie recently discussed playing the manic sociopath, stating:

“Harley is creepy, violent, crazy — all of the things that I aspire to be! No. It’s the fun of living vicariously through someone who is doing things that I would never do in real life.”

The film reunited Robbie with her ‘Focus’ costar Will Smith and she appears to have been delighted to get the opportunity to work with him again:

“I enjoyed working with Will so, so much that I was overjoyed when I heard that we would be working together again. I actually texted him when I heard he was in negotiations to be in Suicide Squad and kept peer-pressuring him, ‘You’d better be taking this movie!’ He obviously signed on for his own reasons, but I was so incredibly happy that we got to do Round Two. He’s awesome on set and awesome off set. He’s just a really, really good person.”

Smith’s Deadshot may be in for bigger and better things, as rumors have surfaced that he will costar with Ben Affleck in an upcoming ‘Batman’ movie.

And who knows what else the future could hold for these baddies?  Warner Brothers has big plans for the DC Cinematic Universe and who knows who will pop up where?

Are you excited to see Margot Robbie bring Harley Quinn to life?
