‘The Flash’ season 2, in my opinion, is still trying to rekindle the momentum that the show had during Season 1, and I am hoping that the further the show delves into Earth-2 and the rest of the multi-verse, the more that momentum will grow. In the latest clip released to promote tonight’s episode, we see the team encountering the main doorway to Earth-2, which just happens to be situated below Star Labs. (in the words of ‘Back to the Future”s Doc Brown, it’s either “…some kind of nexus of the universe. Or else a really big coincidence.”) The team discusses the doorway, and we learn that Cisco has tried sending things through but they all get bounced back at him. Dr. Stein enters the room, and despite his recent ailments (Caitlyn demands that he go lie down, but he ignores her), he says he is also very interested in the doorway. Barry theorizes that if Zoom is using the breaches to send people through, maybe a Speedster is the only one who can go through. He makes the attempt, but the door rebuffs him as well. Then Cisco and Jay begin theorizing that perhaps the door is unstable, and that they need to stabilize it in order for Barry to race through. It ends with Jay realizing if they can get it to work, it would be a type of Speed Cannon.
