Today we don’t just have a new look at Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor as shown above but he also talks a little on how he is bringing the character to life in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘. The image came from a recent interview Fortune.com did with “Lex Luthor” as a promo for the film. Between it and an interview with Eisenberg there is some fun new facts to look forward to seeing play out. The interview itself was pretty interesting as it gives insight to how he is running LexCorp and even name drops Wayne Enterprises and Kord Industries. When asked why they avoid military contracts he states that:
“It’s a necessity. We live in the most dangerous point of time in all of human history. Statistically speaking, it’s a near certainty that another world-changing crisis is hurtling toward us like a speeding bullet. We have to be ready to defend ourselves. No civilization was ever conquered by having a strong military.”
It is fun to note that they list LexCorp as second only to Wayne in technology and behind both Wayne Enterprises and Kord Industries in charities. Eisenberg spoke in a separate interview on his take on the character. First off was mentioning the source material that he was given for research:
“There is this trove of stuff about this guy. A lot of it’s repetitive, like he always winds up on the roof of his building giving some faux benevolent talk about how he’s going to change the city. It’s fun to take that campy, cartoony stuff and try to put it into a real person and try to reconcile the two.”
I openly admit I am now looking forward to a scene where Lex is talking about changing the city or the world in the upcoming film. Of course, while some things will probably be the same, he also mentions how this Luthor will be different from previous iterations.
“This movie is so different… It has real psychological underpinnings, and this movie character feels like a real scary person.”
It should be interesting to see what direction they plan on taking him. What do you think of the latest shot of Lex Luthor? Do you think he’ll be a “real scary person” on the big screen?
