While ‘Black Mirror‘ fans have already been thrilled to find that there will be a third season, it was recently announced that we’re actually going to be getting a 12-episode run! I’m sure Netflix viewers were already happy to hear that Charlie Brooker’s series was set to return and this episode bump is going to have anyone who wants to see more of this series estatic!

Cindy Holland Netflix’s Vice President of Original Content, says that “Charlie has created a one-of-a-kind series with an uncanny voice and prescient, darkly comedic vision” and viewers will most likely agree with her. The ratings on the show were high enough to get Netflix to give us an extended third season and I can only hope that if it remains this good we’ll see a fourth and beyond!

Brooker is already working on the episodes with production set to begin later this year so we can hopefully see them land in 2016.

According to Brooker:

“It’s all very exciting — a whole new bunch of Black Mirror episodes on the most fitting platform imaginable. Netflix connects us with a global audience so that we can create bigger, stranger, more international and diverse stories than before, whilst maintaining that ‘Black Mirror’ feel. I just hope none of these new story ideas come true.”

With the global audience aspect it makes me wonder what the budget will be like, not that the first run suffered visually at all.

You can check out the super short teaser below which really won’t tell you anything on what to expect.

I, for one, couldn’t be happier. Even with my earlier love of ‘The Twilight Zone’ and ‘The Outer Limits’ I’m usually not a big fan of single episode shows anymore but ‘Black Mirror’ has taken a close look at the failings in our society and using science fiction magnified them to how bad things could get. I think Brooker has been a genius as pointing out humanity at its worst and am looking forward to where he takes us next.

Are you looking forward to the return of ‘Black Mirror’? Do you think that Brooker will be able to keep up the high quality of his series with an extended season run? Share your thoughts below!
