With Hugh Jackman‘s (‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ ‘Pan’) final movie as Wolverine dropping in 2017, it is clear that Fox is looking for a replacement to the iconic mutant and Jackman would like to see Tom Hardy (‘Mad Max: Fury Road‘,’Inception‘) take over the role.

I should instantly note here that this is who Jackman would like to see take over as Logan and it isn’t coming from the studio. That also maens that no offer has been made so I wouldn’t get your hopes up too much here. That being said, with 15 years of playing the character, Jackman might have a unique perspective on who should take over after he’s done.

According to Jackman, “He’s younger than me for sure, [but] I think Tom Hardy would be a great [Wolverine].” With there being a high probability that they’ll want an actor in around Hardy’s age range who doesn’t look like a teenager and can be around for years to come, this could be a good choice! Hardy does have experience in both the comic book world as well as action flicks in general so I can see him being a great fit assuming he isn’t busy with one of the ‘Mad Max’ sequels. While I think that visually they should go with someone that is shorter and more muscular as he’s been portrayed in the comic for years, acting wise I think Hardy would nail being able to pull off a berzerker wolverine.

You can hear exactly what he had to say when speaking with MTV International below!

Since Hardy having been courted for ‘Suicide Squad‘ among other films since his behind the mask role in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ it should come as no surprise that his name would pop up here.
