Elvis crooned about ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ but the newest installment of ‘American Horror Story: Hotel‘ is more of a heart-stopping hotel and this latest trailer features music that is a far cry from The King’s smooth style. Pop icon Lady Gaga plays Elizabeth, also known as The Countess, an extremely long-lived (immortal?) seductress who maintains her youth by drinking blood. In this new clip, entitled ‘Above & Below’, she is seen cavorting through the halls of the Hotel Cortez while the grinding 1997 single ‘Du Haste’ by German industrial metal band Rammstein while showing off some opulent fashions, which will be a hallmark of her character. She is also seen surrounded by her creepy platinum-haired children, another major aspect of the new storyline.
The clip is perhaps the most Gaga we’ve seen so far, as it could easily be seen as a series of clips from one of her stylish music videos. It was her cinematic music clips like ‘Paparazzi’ and ‘Telephone’ that helped inspire creator Ryan Murphy to seek her out to star on this hit anthology series.
Watch Gaga in her spooky element in the clip below:
‘American Horror Story’ is co-created by Murphy and Brad Falchuk, while Murphy acts as showrunner and sometime director. Both Murphy and Falchuk also serve as writers and executive producers, the latter along with Tim Minear, Brad Buecker, Jennifer Salt, James Wong and Alexis Martin Woodall. The show is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television.
The last installment, ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ is nominated for a series record 19 Emmy Awards. In the past, the show has won nine Emmys.
‘AHS: Hotel’ arrives on October 7th on FX and also stars Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Evan Peters, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, Chloë Sevigny, Denis O’Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, Max Greenfield, Naomi Campbell and Finn Wittrock.
