If you’ve been wondering who else might return for ‘The X-Files‘ revival you’ll be happy to hear that Annabeth Gish (‘Sons of Anarchy’,’Mystic Pizza’) is set to reprise her role as Agent Monica Julieta Reyes! Gish is going to be joining a long list of returning mainstays aside from just Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny as we’ll also see Mitch Pileggi, William B. David, Dean Haglund, Tom Braidwood, Bruce Harwood, and Sheila Larken all making comebacks. They’ll be joining newcomers Joel McHale, Kumail Nanjiani , Lauren Ambrose, and Robbie Amell.
For those of you who can’t place Agent Reyes off the top of your head it would be best to think back to the eighth season when Fox briefly replaced David Duchovny after a contract dispute. This was the time when Robert Patrick came on board as Agent John Doggett with his partner, Agent Reyes. After Mulder returned to ‘The X-Files,’ we saw Reyes stay on the series as a regular for the ninth and final season as well. She was seen as the lighthearted replacement to Mulder which came with mixed responses. Some liked her more upbeat nature and spiritual belief when it came to the paranormal but many also saw her as a step back from our alien chasing hero.
At this time it seems that Patrick is busy working on ‘Scorpion’ for CBS so we’ll only be seeing Reyes return.
Currently it isn’t mentioned how many episodes she’ll be appearing in though I have a strong suspicion it will just be one as it seems difficult to think they would write a cohesive arc for her with so much else to cover in just six episodes.
