With Marvel’s success on the big and small screen it should come as no surprise that Fox would want to make a live action ‘X-Men‘ television series and it looks as if it might just be happening. While the studio has been pushing for the series to go into production, it sounds as if Fox has one big factor they have to get around and that is Marvel Studios. However today we found out from Fox Television Group Chairman and CEO Dana Walden that negotiations are moving forward at this time!

“X-Men, we’re in negotiations with Marvel. We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to announce something soon. We’re not closed on a deal yet but it’s something we’re definitely pursuing.”

It seems that with Fox’s success with mutants so far they want to expand the same way that Marvel has expanded by creating a larger universe to watch. However, just like Fox’s films, we won’t be seeing any crossovers between an ‘X-Men’ television series and Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’. This really shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone though as the televised and cinematic universe of Marvel are all in the same wheelhouse.

“The characters from the X-Men franchise are with Fox on the feature side. So we won’t be including Marvel characters that are at ABC with Disney. This will be exclusively the franchise as it has existed at Fox.”

If the series does intersect with the mutant cinematic universe it would be interesting to see which characters that they end up following and who might end up jumping between the film and televised worlds.

What are your thoughts on Fox starting up an X-Men television series? Do you think we have room for the mutants on Fox or would it be too much for them to manage? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
