We’ve been waiting for more details on HBO’s ‘Westworld‘ and now the studio has revealed a few new images for the series to share with you. There has been lot of information but little to see on this adaptation of the 1973 classic by Michael Crichton. Thankfully, that is finally starting to change. With Jonathan Nolan, Life Joy, and J.J. Abrams on board as executive producers you can’t help but be exited from the guiding talent alone. If you are a fan of the original science fiction and western mash up, you’ll be even more excited.
While we have confirmation from HBO that the series will be released in 2016, they haven’t given us a firm release date at this time. It wouldn’t surprise me if it took over the ‘Game of Thrones‘ time slot when it ends their next season.
‘Westworld’ has been described as “a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.” You can’t see too much of that from these images, but I doubt we’ll get that vibe until at the very least an extended teaser or trailer is released.
We have four stills from the series which you can check out below. First up is Anthony Hopkins as the park’s creator with Jeffery Wright next to him.
Next up is Ed Harris as the Man in Black looking rather intimidating.
Here we have a shot of Thandie Newton, though there isn’t much context as to what is going on here.
Finally we have a look at James Marsden and Evan Rachel Wood in character. Clearly with the look on her face these two are having a lively conversation.
Not a lot of action going on in these first shots aside from the Man in Black but at the very least they do look visually impressive. It’ll be interesting to see how much of the original film is retained when the series is released and how much is just using the source material as a basis for what has been created.
Are you looking forward to HBO’s ‘Westworld’? Do you think this was a movie that had enough concepts being explored to turn into an ongoing television series? Share your thoughts below!
