Today we’ve got the first 10 minutes of ‘The Death of Superman Lives; What Happened?‘ to share with you. Not only that but the “holy grail” of footage was released with Nicolas Cage’s costume test also now out in the open. Many of you know that ‘Superman Lives’ is the cancelled Superman film that was going to star Nicolas Cage as Superman and be a cinematic take on the Death of Superman story line. In it we were going to see the coming of Doomsday and the fall of DC’s larger than life hero on the big screen.

Obviously, it never happened.

In this video you’ll be checking out the first 10 minutes of the feature film documentary “The Death of ‘Superman Lives’; What Happened?” In the video and documentary you’ll learn all about what happened to the aborted ‘Superman Lives’ which was to star Nicolas Cage in the central role. Director Jon Schnepp explains the history of the project and also speaks with writers Kevin Smith, Wesley Strick, Dan Gilroy, Producers Jon Peters and Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Costume Designer Colleen Atwood, Director Tim Burton and many more.

While I’m not sure if I would have any interest in ‘Superman Lives’ had it seen the light of day. However, I do want to see how it all fell apart.

The best thing though is that while the film never was shot, footage has just been released of a very in shape Nicolas Cage in uniform! It was the 1997 costume test for the film which you can see here:

I wonder how much of the $30 million that was spent in development of the film ended up going towards this costume. However much was spent, it was clearly worth it.

Do you think that ‘Superman Lives’ would have done better for the franchise than ‘Man of Steel’? Would you still want to check the movie out or are you glad that it got scrubbed? Share your thoughts below!
