While Marvel might want Jason Statham (‘The Transporter’,’Crank’) to take on Bullseye in the second season of ‘Daredevil,’ his recent comments on the company haven’t been too flattering. The studio is looking to potentially introduce one of Daredevil’s greatest villains in the second season and it sounds like Statham is their head choice. From his experience with action in movies to the look of intensity that he can bring, it would actually be quite a good fit. The only problem is that Statham isn’t a huge fan of what Marvel has been doing with action in their movies.

Still, his comments aside, rumor has it that Marvel TV has already met with Statham about the role though neither the actor nor the studio has confirmed that. Of course, this isn’t the only rumor of potential villains to pop up as we’ve already heard multiple reports that Elektra and Mysterio might be appearing in the series too. (That Mysterio rumor might be part of the groundwork to work in Spider-Man references for his inclusion in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.)

As in the comics, we’ve seen a very close connection between Daredevil, Bullseye, and Elektra over the years so this could be quite an interesting introduction.

All that being said, Statham hasn’t liked Marvel’s movies or how the heroes fight in them. While promoting the film ‘Spy,’ he’s what he said about them:

“A lot of the modern sort of action movies I see, you know, Marvel comic sort of things, I just think, any guy can do it. I have no ambition. I mean, I could take my grandma and put her in a cape, and then put her in a green screen, and then have stunt doubles come in and do all the action. Anybody can do it. I mean, they’re relying on stunt doubles, and green screen, and $200 million budget, it’s all CGI-created. So to me, that is not authentic. I’m inspired by old, real star guys that can really do it.”

While that may be hitting the nail right on the head for Marvel’s Cinematic Universe at the movies, we’ve also seen that this isn’t quite the case for Netflix if the first season of ‘Daredevil’ is any indication. Anyone who believes that this is perfect casting can hope that the brutality and actual stunts from that Marvel series has changed his mind. It sounds like what he wants to do in a movie is much more in line with what the studio is doing for their Netflix shows.

That being said, will the House of Ideas be quite as eager to have him playing this master assassin after he was rather vocal about his contempt for the company? Would you like to see Jason Statham tackle the role of Bullseye in ‘Daredevil’? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
