Toy New Tuesday: This Week We Have Space Whales. Yes, Really.

Hello and welcome back to another all new edition of Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! Just like that, Spring is gone and Summer is rolling in with a ton of awesome new toys and collectibles! There’s always something new to hunt for out there, so lets wade knee deep into the Toy News for the week of June 2nd, 2015!

Star Trek IV Whales: The Final Frontier

You know, in this line of work, we see A LOT of toys and collectibles, but this one really takes the cake as ‘most randomly awesome’! Here we have an SDCC 2015 Exclusive Bobblehead from Entertainment Earth of ‘The Whales’ from ‘Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home’! I have to say, in all my years as a collector, this was a piece I never once expected to see in existence. Still, it’s a pretty darn cool and unique collectible to make for this years SDCC Exclusive item from Entertainment Earth, so we’re happy to see it! Presenting the only logical way to fit humpback whales in your collection this Star Trek IV: Whales with Spock bobble head made by Bif Bang Pow!. This Entertainment Earth Convention Exclusive measures approximately 2.5” tall x 4.5” wide x 2.75” deep.
The finely detailed collectible shows a pint-sized Spock swimming with two humpback whales as featured in the motion picture, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. What makes this bobble so unique is the fact the tail of each whale bobbles instead of the head. And, making it a true collectible, the run will be limited to just 1,998 convention-exclusive pieces, each individually numbered. Ages 14 and up.
One of the largest cult phenomena of our time, Star Trek is a science-fiction entertainment franchise based on a fictional universe created by Gene Roddenberry. It includes a multitude of television series, movies, video and computer games, novels, and more depicting an optimistic future in which mankind has risen above past frailties and vices to unite with other intelligent species in the galaxy to explore the cosmos, discover new worlds, and encounter new civilizations – “To boldly go where no one has gone before!”

The Force Is Strong With Hot Toys

Hot Toys continues their 1:6th scale ‘Star Wars’ figure line with the announcement of their all new Luke Skywalker figure! This new Luke Skywalker 1:6th scale figure is based on the characters appearance in ‘Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope’ and features his iconic Tatooine Farmboy attire!

This figure is set to include iconic accessories like an LED-lit Lightsaber, and some less iconic accessories like Luke’s briefly seen hat, poncho, and goggles! There will also be a Special Edition of the figure that includes several accessories seen later in the film like a Stormtrooper Belt and Blaster! Check out the full release from Hot Toys below-

The movie-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in the film featuring a newly developed head sculpt, specially tailored costume, LED-lighted lightsaber, a hat with goggles, a poncho, detailed accessories, and a figure stand.
A special edition is available in selected markets which include an additional Stormtrooper belt with grappling hook, a communicator, and a blaster rifle.

Threezero Presents Heroes In A 1:6th Halfshell

The crew over at Threezero have finally announced the second half of the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ team in their 1:6th scale line, and wow do they look great! Whether you were a fan of last summer’s ‘TMNT’ film series reboot, it’s impossible to argue against just how cool these new 1:6th scale figures of Donatello and Raphael look!

Threezero announced Leonardo and Michaelangelo back in April, so fans have been eagerly anticipating these two for the last few months can finally rest easy knowing that they’ll soon be in their hands! Check out the full releases and figure specs from Threezero below:

Donatello and Raphael collectible figures come in 1/6th scale and are designed after the characters on-screen appearance. Donatello sands approximately 33.9cm / 13.34inches tall, comes with an extra pair of exchangeable hands, headset, backpack, walkie talkie and extendable fighting Bo-staff. Who Gets A Fourth Wave Of Figures? Who Does!

The team over at Underground Toys has announced their all new Fourth Wave of figures in their 3.75″ scale ‘Doctor Who’ toyline! This wave is a bit small, containing only four figures. The wave is made up of The 12th Doctor, Skovox Blitzer, The Foretold, and a Cyberman. These figures are expected to hit stores later this month!

ROUND 1… FIGHT!

While fans of the legendary fighting game ‘Mortal Kombat’ have been excitedly awaiting the release of Mezco’s 6″ scale figures based on the most recent game “Mortal Kombat X’ to hit stores since they were announced back at Toy Fair, there hasn’t been very much by way of announcements for other figures in the line. This week, Mezco announced two all new 1:6th scale figures of some of the series most popular characters, Scorpion and Subzero, which are set to hit stores this November!

This 12 inch figure from the new Mortal Kombat X game has been created utilizing digital assets supplied by the game developers to ensure game-like accurateness. Each figure features nearly a dozen points of articulation, interchangeable hands as well as some of these characters most deadly weapons.

“GAME OVER MAN! GAME OVER!”

The team at NECA have finally debuted their latest wave of figures in their popular ‘ALIEN” 7″ scale figure line! This new wave, Series 5, is comprised of Lt. Ripley, ‘Queen Attack’ Bishop (who comes packed with a Egg and Facehugger), and both Black and Red versions of the ALIEN Xenomorphs as they were seen in ‘ALIENS: Genocide’. NECA and Toys R Us are ‘Cancelling The Apocalypse’

Later this summer Toys R Us is teaming with nECA to bring us an exclusive new figure based on the finale of the already cult classic sci-fi film ‘Pacific Rim’! While no officialy release date has been set, towards the end of the summer season you’ll be able to find the TRU Exclusive ‘Anteverse Gypsy Danger’! This figure represents both the battle damage and color scheme of the films final moments with Gypsy Danger masterfully, and is certainly an interesting piece for fans of the film!

Gamestop Exclusive Kratos

While the regular Kratos POP! Vinyl from the hit video game series ‘God Of War’ has been out for quite some time now, later this season Gamestop is getting an exclusive black and red colored version of the figure that has been dubbed ‘Fear Kratos’! This figure is expected to hit stores this July!
