New rumors are out regarding ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ and this time the spotlight is on Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor. According to the rumor, Batman is not the only character who be suiting up ‘Iron Man’ style to take on the Man of Steel, as Lex Luthor might just be donning his classic war suit in the film to battle his nemesis. According to sources, the armor will be retaining the trademark green and purple color scheme, and will look like versions of the suit seen in past comics/animated movies, though it will be slightly adapted to match the style and general look of ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.’ As to how the brilliant industrialist will be able to construct such a suit, the rumor mill has an answer for that as well. If what we’ve heard is true, Luthor will be building the suit based off of Kryptonian technology he looted after the events of ‘Man of Steel,’ meaning the suit will indeed be a formidable opponent for Superman. More exciting is the idea that if this rumor is true, and if the suit survives whatever beat-down Batman and Superman rain down upon it during the course of the film, there is a chance that Luthor might don the suit again for his cameo in ‘Suicide Squad.’
For those unfamiliar with the suit’s comic origins, Lex Luthor’s warsuit made its first appearance in 1983 in ‘Action Comics’ #544, being developed so Luthor could get his hands dirty in the battle against his arch-nemesis Superman, allowing the man to actually physically battle the Last Son of Krypton using super-strength, flight, and the ability to shoot Kryptonian energy blasts. It has appeared in many more comics since then, and has been adapted into many animated movies and video games including ‘Superman/Batman: Public Enemies’ and ‘Injustice: God’s Among Us.’
What do you think of Luthor wearing the suit and battling Superman in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice?’ Is this yet another unnecessary addition to an already bloated movie? Or does this add balance to the film as it makes Luthor a powerful enemy (now both intellectually and physically), making him a match for Batman and Superman?
