‘Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron’ has yet to open and kick off the summer movie season, but that hasn’t stopped them from already kicking off promotion for the studio’s NEXT movie of the year, July’s ‘Ant-Man.’ The long-in-gestation film that showcases one of the founding Avengers (in the comics, anyway) stars Michael Douglas as an older Hank Pym, who appears to pass the mantle of ‘Ant-Man’ on to a reformed thief named Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd.
It was Rudd, who recently appeared on ‘Late Show With David Letterman’, where he presented the first full-length clip from the movie, which seems to take place early in the film as Lang is still a criminal who steals Pym’s Ant-Man suit.
You can watch an excerpt from the interview, then the clip itself below:
‘Ant-Man’ hasn’t received as much promotion as a lot of movies that are coming out even later, so it looks as if Marvel is ramping up efforts to raise interest in a film based on a character that traditionally hasn’t been much of a headliner. But if the rather obscure ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ can outdo ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘ at the box office and the even more obscure ‘Big Hero 6‘ can be the must-see family movie of the holiday season, Marvel should have no problem turning this star-studded action flick into a bonafide hit. Plus, with The Hulk seemingly turning against his Avengers allies in ‘Age of Ultron’ (based on the previews and toys), the big league team could probably use some extra muscle. Could a transformation into Giant-Man be far behind?
The movie is directed by Peyton Reed and also stars Corey Stoll, Evangeline Lilly, David Dastmalchian, Michael Pena, Bobby Cannavale, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, Wood Harris John Slattery and Gregg Turkington and T.I.
