We heard last year that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were planning to work on ‘Incorporated‘ for Syfy and now the network has officially ordered a pilot episode for the series. The initial description of the series was light on details and was teased as “a futuristic espionage thriller set in a world where corporations have seemingly unlimited power. This will be the story of one man’s efforts to beat the system.” Very much like the PC game ‘Syndicate,’ but it now seems that we finally have some new details on the show that we’ll be able to share with you.

The story will focus on executive Ben Larson who has to completely change his identity so that he can infiltrate the corporate world that runs our society. It isn’t money or power that he is after, as it is his singular goal is to save the woman that he loves. In saving her he will have to take on this entire corporate system with “deadly consequences.”

The plan is to look at this dystopian future having been created by what many can see is actually happening in America at this time. That is, that corporations have too much power in politics and that the public sector is slowly falling to the wayside. With the “1 percent” becoming even more powerful what happens when they truly do acquire all of the power? The goal of ‘Incorporated’ is to explore that scenario through a show full of “suspense, action, complex characters, and a dark sense of humor” by showing us a “world where the ethical boundaries that we know have been completely redrawn”

While there is no word as to who will be playing Larson at this time, we do know that the series has been created by David and Alex Pastor (‘Selfies’,’The Last Days’) who have written the pilot and will be directing it. Ted Humphrey (‘The Good Wife’) will be on board as the showrunner and Jennifer Todd will join Damon and Affleck as an executive producer with Margaret Chernin as an associate producer.

According to Syfy’s president Dave Howe:

“Syfy is working with the best talent in the business to develop the most provocative and smart science fiction programming, and we are delighted to be partnering with Matt, Ben and Jennifer, along with the creative minds of the Pastor brothers and Ted on this pilot. ‘Incorporated’ is an electrifying example of what science fiction does best: holding a mirror to present realities and projecting forward to a recognizable future in which we face the impact and consequences of our actions.”

Damon and Affleck jointly stated that:

“Incorporated provides us distinct insight into a world dictated by our decisions today. Viewers will delve into the intricacies of our future, one that we are constantly warned of, but as a society have not yet explored. We believe this is an important and timely story to tell and can think of no one better to guide us into this than David, Alex and Ted.”

I’m still loving the fact that Syfy is starting to push so much original content for genre fans once again. With the dark look at our future this series could provide I am eager to check it out once we’re finally closer to being able to see it!
