2K Games and Turtle Rock Studio’s ‘Evolve’ has released a whole bunch of new content, some of it free, some for a price – a new playable monster, four more hunters, two maps, and Observation Mode.
The fourth and newest available monster, Behemoth is, according to the Youtube trailer below, “a rock giant who can smash through foes as a boulder or burn them alive with his Lava Bomb.” This monster is able to curl up into a ball to either crush hunters or to quickly move about the map. Behemoth is free for those who pre-ordered ‘Evolve’, otherwise he is available separately for $14.99.
Four new Hunters for each class are also now available for either $24.99 with a Hunting Season Pass or $7.49 each:
- Torvald – an Assault cyborg with a metal cannon arm
- Crow – a Trapper who can use his pet crow Batray to track Monsters
- Slim – a combat medic genetically modified for their role
- Sunny – a Support who fights with a mini-nuke grenade launcher
The two new maps, which come free of charge, are The Broken Hill Mine and Broken Hill Foundry and are available now if you have an Xbox One; if you’re playing on the Playstation 4 or Windows PC, you’ll have to wait until April 30th for the maps to become available.
Finally, as another free update, ‘Evolve’ has added a new feature called Observer Mode. This feature allows a sixth user to enter the game as a passive viewer who can switch point of view between any of the five players, getting real time updates on the map, players’ health, survival odds, and more. This Mode will be really useful for anyone wanting to livestream their matches.
Side note: even if you don’t buy Behemoth and the new Hunters you can still play alongside or against players who have, so don’t worry about being left out for not paying for the extra content.
‘Evolve’ is, according to their website, “the next generation of multiplayer shooters where four Hunters face off against a single, player-controlled Monster in adrenaline-pumping 4v1 matches. Play as the Monster to use savage abilities and an animalistic sense to kill your human enemies, or choose one of four Hunter classes (Assault, Trapper, Medic and Support) and team up to take down the beast on the planet Shear, where flora and fauna act as an adversary to man and monster alike.”
‘Evolve’ is available on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Windows PC.
