Microsoft and Sony both announced their lineup of free games for PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold subscribed members for the month of April.

Playstation Plus members in total have six games to choose from, spread out across their systems. Two are available on the PS4 and PS3, one for the PS4, one for the PS3, and two just for the PS Vita.

PS4 and PS3:

  • Tower of Guns – a FPS where you get to shoot guns and have guns shot at you. Their website calls it a mixture of ‘Binding of Isaac’ and ‘Doom 2’.
  • Aaru’s Awakening – a platformer game that uses teleporting elements to guide you through a 2D hand drawn world

PS4:

  • Never Alone – another platformer game in which you control both a little Native Alaskan girl and her pet fox (or play co-op with a friend) as they set off to save their village from an eternal blizzard.

PS3:

  • Dishonored – a stealth action-adventure game that emphasizes players’ moral choices.

PS Vita:

  • MonsterBag – a puzzle game in which you play from the point of view of an adorable monster who is shaped like a bag.
  • Killzone Mercenary – an FPS with both single player and co-op modes.

Here’s the Playstation announcement trailer as well as a sneak preview of each game:

Things are a little different for Xbox Live Gold Members: first off, they’re getting double the amount of free games than normal to celebrate over 100 million game downloads through Microsoft’s program Games with Gold. Two games are coming to the Xbox One and four to the Xbox 360, however two of the 360 games are available for the first half of the month (April 1st – April 15th), and the other two for second half (April 16th – April 30th).

Xbox One:

  • Child of Light – an adventure game in which you play a princess fighting through a storybook-like world, complete with rhyming narration.
  • Pool Nation FX – a realistic pool game that you can play with your friends.

Xbox 360 (April 1st – April 15th):

  • Gears of War: Judgment – the latest installment in the popular FPS franchise Gears of War.
  • Terraria – build, dig, explore, and fight through a pixelated world solo, with friends, or against your friends.

Xbox 360 (April 16th – April 30th):
