Though remakes of classic horror movie aren’t the most popular choices at the box office, they keep coming. The latest one we’ll be seeing is 20th Century Fox and MGM’s new ‘Poltergeist‘ starring Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Jared Harris. Produced by the acclaimed filmmaker Sam Raimi and helmed by ‘Monster House’ director Gil Kenan, the iconic 1982 film is contemporized when a suburban family is haunted by evil forces that capture their youngest daughter. But before it hits theaters next month, we have a new look at the upcoming reboot thanks to a new trailer.

Recently, the studio released another trailer on YouTube featuring the Bowen family and their struggles against the supernatural. We also see Harris, who some may recognize from ‘Mad Men’, ‘Fringe’, and ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’, as a ghost hunter enlisted by the family to save their little girl. Personally, I’m most excited to see Saxon Sharbino in action again. After the phenomenal job she did in Clark Gregg’s ‘Trust Me’ (which was one of my favorite films of 2013), I’m excited to see her make some moves by getting involved in a franchise with name recognition such as this. But no matter who you’re looking forward to seeing (or not looking forward to seeing in the case of the ghosts and ghouls and clowns), you can see it all in the trailer below, followed by the official synopsis of the film:

Legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi and director Gil Kenan contemporize the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and hold the youngest daughter captive, the family must come together to rescue her before she disappears forever.

Just like the new versions of ‘Carrie,’ ‘Evil Dead,’ and ‘Psycho,’ the new ‘Poltergeist’ definitely feels familiar. Yet, with a few notable changes to the characters and contemporary cinematic technology in play, the studios hope to bring in a whole new audience while not alienating the long-time diehards. Time will tell how much they succeed in that endeavor, but while we wait and see how things turn out, share your thoughts on the remake in the comment section.

‘Poltergeist’ starring Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Saxon Sharbino, Jane Adams, and Jared Harris debuts in theaters on May 22, 2015.
