Up until now, ‘Game of Thrones’ has spent a good portion of its time in Westeros. However, that’s definitely going change in Season Five as many key players will be heading to new and exotic locations that we haven’t seen before. Jaime Lannister is headed to Dorne to visit his niece/daughter Myrcella. Tyrion and Varys embark on a journey far from King’s Landing as well. And when we last saw Arya Stark, she was on a boat headed to Braavos, where she is set to undergo a makeover to better blend in with her new surroundings. We previously saw some concept art for Maisie Williams’ new costume on the popular HBO series, but now we get to see the real thing for the first time.
This week, Entertainment Weekly unveiled the four covers for their latest issue featuring a few fan favorite characters from ‘Game of Thrones’ in anticipation for the upcoming fifth season. Soon you can see the likes of Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister, and the Khaleesi herself Daenerys Targaryen on your local newsstands, but along with them will be a very different looking Arya Stark. Her new attire reflects the fashion of Braavos, which finds the fiery young lady in a cleaner, more feminine outfit. You can check it out in the gallery below, along with the other covers, some character portraits, and outtakes of Williams, Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, and Kit Harington:
Arya’s new look isn’t the only place we’ll see cultures clash because the characters of the acclaimed fantasy drama will be crossing paths in ways that we haven’t seen before. Showrunner David Benioff touched on this while speaking about the new season:
“Worlds are colliding. One of the things we’ve been most excited about from the beginning of the series is we’ve had all these far-flung story lines across Westeros and Essos which almost never cross. Now some of these characters start to head on a collision course for each other.”
As excited as the cast and crew are for this new chapter in ‘Game of Thrones’ history, I’m sure fans are incredibly ecstatic to see what happens next. So while we anxiously await the return of the show based on George R.R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Fire and Ice’ series, let us know what you think about Arya Stark’s new look in the comment section.
‘Game of Throne’ returns to HBO on April 12, 2015 at 9:00pm.
