Last night’s special guest host on NBC’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ was actor Chris Hemsworth and in keeping with ‘SNL’ tradition, the night would not have been complete without a parody of his most famous role, that of the Asgardian demi-god Thor.
In an “Avengers New Report”, reporter Danny Powell (Bobby Moynihan) is on the scene as an uberly enthusiastic and unreserved Thor is celebrating the fact they beat Ultron singing Queen’s “We are the Champions,’ whooping it up and kissing the reporter on the head. When commenting on how it looked like Ultron was definitely going to kill everyone, Thor responds:
“Yeah, yeah. I’ve got to give it up to those robots. They fought hard but luckily, I’M THOR!”
Of course you can’t have an Avengers skit without other members from the team and here, Iron Man, the Hulk, Nick Fury and Captain America all come in to join the merriment and celebration. Watching the SNL players as the Avengers did earn smiles, but you just can’t keep your eyes of Hemworth as he plays off his punch happy Thor with hilarity in the background.
In the end, Thor makes a few shout outs to Loki and Jane and even manages to throw in a mention of his podcast. While the podcast may not be real, if you want more of Hemsworth after seeing this skit, you can head over to Twitter and follow him as he just opened an account!
@RobertDowneyJr Thanks! Better late than never, right Mate? Still trying to figure this whole Twitter thing out.
