The first teaser trailer for Josh Trank’s ‘Fantastic Four’ finally debuted in January. After a long period of radio silence since the cast was made official, fans were able to get their first glimpse at the new versions of Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and the blue-eyed ever-lovin Thing. But apparently a few lucky movie patrons catching a screening of ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ were treated to something a little extra featuring Marvel’s First Family in 20th Century Fox’s upcoming reboot.
In the initial teaser, we got to see an extremely small fraction of the superpowers gained by Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm when the team returned from a mission to the Negative Zone. However, it appears that there is an alternate version of this trailer that shows off even more metahuman action. This alternate teaser is playing in front of Fox’s new young spy adventure starring Colin Firth and Samuel L. Jackson and it features a few seconds of new footage that show the Human Torch and the Invisible Woman causing some destruction with their powers. Someone managed to get a video of this new footage and you can see it below:
It’s really interesting that our first glimpse at the powers of Kate Mara’s Sue Storm is seeing her flying alongside her brother. Firstly, Jessica Alba’s version of the character didn’t really utilize that particular aspect of Sue’s powers. Secondly, we’re seeing this before any sort of invisibility or force field powers, which is an odd choice in general for a character called the Invisible Woman. I’m sure that there’s still plenty of that in store for us True Believers when more trailers start rolling out though.
What do you think about this little bit of extra footage for the first ‘Fantastic Four’ teaser? Are you excited for Josh Trank’s take on Marvel’s First Family? And what do you think about the small glimpses that we’ve seen do far of these heroes’ powers? Let us know in the comments.
‘Fantastic Four’ starring Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Toby Kebbell opens on August 7, 2014.
