Following the huge success of ‘District 9’ and the mild yawn that was ‘Elysium,’ Neill Blomkamp is back with a new film titled ‘Chappie,’ about a sentient robot trying to make his way in the world, despite the people who don’t want him to exist. Below are three clips released by the filmmakers in preparation for the movie’s upcoming March 6th release.

In the 1st clip (below), villains Hugh Jackman and Sigourney Weaver discuss Chappie and where he came from, before deciding he needs to be destroyed, or “burn him to ash.” Jackman than jumps into a cockpit that allows him to control another mech, this one with a jetpack, which he intends to use to hunt down and destroy Chappie.

In the 2nd clip, a group of criminals return to their home base after a botched job, only to discover they’ve been followed by police and ‘droids.’ A battle ensues, where we see the men struggle to fend off the cops and their mechanized allies.

In the 3rd clip, Chappie’s new gang attempts to teach him how to be cool as they prepare for a heist of their own. Once they discover Chappie has an issue with guns, they introduce him to alternate weapons, including throwing stars, which Chappie proves to be a good shot with.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“Every child comes into the world full of promise, and none more so than Chappie: he is gifted, special, a prodigy. Like any child, Chappie will come under the influence of his surroundings – some good, some bad – and he will rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. But there’s one thing that makes Chappie different from anyone else: he is a robot. The first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. His life, his story, will change the way the world looks at robots and humans forever.”
