Ubisoft has put out a new cinematic trailer announcing a release date for the upcoming free ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity: Dead Kings’ DLC.

The cinematic trailer shows some quality CGI with ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity’ protagonist Arno Victor Dorian exploring an underground tomb only to run into some trouble with some undesirables who also happen to be exploring there.

Taking place after the end of ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity,’ the ‘Dead Kings DLC follows a rather cynical Arno as he leaves Paris to venture to Saint-Denis, a troubled city that holds many dark secrets as well as the underground crypts of dead French Kings.

The ‘Dead Kings’ DLC will feature all new co-op missions and outfits. Specifically in terms of weapons, the highlight of the ‘Dead Kings’ DLC is the guillotine gun, a weapon that acts as a grenade launching rifle as well as a close ranged weapon.  The new equipable content will be usable across both ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity’ and its DLC.

Originally a part of the now cancelled ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity’ Season Pass, Ubisoft made the ‘Dead Kings’ DLC free to reward consumers for their patience while the company fixed the numerous technical problems that continually plagued ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity’ when it first launched back in November of last year.

‘Assassin’s Creed Unity’ is one of the two new installments in the long running Ubisoft open-world franchise released this year, with the other being the last generation exclusive ‘Assassin’s Creed Rogue.’ This game takes place in Paris during the French Revolution and stars Arno, an assassin trying to find redemption for himself amidst a climate of violence and conspiracy.

‘Assassin’s Creed Unity: Dead Kings’ will launch as a free download for ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity’ owners starting January 13 for PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC. ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity’ itself is currently available now on those same platforms as well.
