While the actor portraying The Hulk was replaced between the last film and ‘The Avengers,’ it now appears that the studio was considering bringing back The Abomination for ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron.’ Not only were they thinking about bringing the creature back, but it also appears that they were talking to Tim Roth (‘Planet of the Apes’, ‘Pulp Fiction’) about reprising his role as Emil Blonsky from ‘The Incredible Hulk.’

So not a villain in a stand alone film but as one of those that The Avengers, or at least The Hulk would be going head to head with. While we’ll be seeing the Hulk go up against Tony’s Hulkbuster armor and Ultron, there aren’t many enemies on Earth that would stand much of a chance against him. Aliens worked great in the first film but you truly need something pretty powerful to be able to pick a fight with Banner’s angry side.

According to Roth, “They were going to do it. They did do that. They were thinking, in The Avengers 2 or something. There was a movie we could do that at one point, but way back when. It just kind of got swept under the carpet I guess. That would be hilarious.”

This would be the first actual character from ‘The Incredible Hulk’ to cross over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and officially stick the film into canon from an actor perspective. While we’ve been told it is canon, we haven’t been able to actually see that. Even the CGI hulk was redone for the film and while Major Glenn Talbot has appeared in Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ who in the comics has worked for and with General Thunderbolt Ross, they haven’t found a way to bring Ross on screen again yet.

Would you have been happy to see The Abomination be one of the villains in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘ or at least show up as a cameo in order to tie the film fully into the franchise? Share your thoughts below true believers!
