Part of a sci-fi movie script has actually made it to space! The title page for the script ‘The Martian’, penned by Drew Goddard, was one of the personal objects aboard the test flight of NASA’s Orion. The page includes a drawing doodled by the film’s director Ridley Scott of an image of Matt Daman’s character standing on the surface of Mars.

The Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle completed a 4-hour test flight on December 5. While the capsule included other personal objects (a common tradition for space missions), executive producer Aditya Sood was thrilled ‘The Martian’ could be represented in a journey beyond Earth.

“NASA really rolled out the red carpet for us. In the capsule they had some personal objects that were important to people involved in the Orion project and one of the things was Ridley’s drawing on the cover page of ‘The Martian’ script. This is a movie about people who are really passionate about science and space-travel, so that was a really great moment for us.”

‘The Martian’ is based on Andy Weir’s self-published novel that became a huge hit in 2012. The movie stars Damon as Mark Watney along with Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Sebastian Stan, Sean Bean, Michael Peña, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Here’s an official synopsis:

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he’s sure he’ll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won’t have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain-old “human error” are much more likely to kill him first. But Mark isn’t ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?

‘The Martian’ will be released on November 25, 2015.
