Like most shows, ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ is taking a bit of a winter break, due to the bustling holidays, but will return with new episodes in January, with one very high-profile new cast member, fan-favorite Neil Patrick Harris.  The recent Tony Award winner plays Chester, who appears to acquire the titular Freak Show from Elsa (Jessica Lange), who is determined to take Hollywood by storm.  The character was unveiled in a coming-soon clip at the end of the last episode, ‘Orphans’.

Chester seems to take a shine to the twins Bette and Dot (both played by Sarah Paulson), but things are rarely what they seem.  Chester also has a proclivity for ventriloquist dummies and magic, which he displays in the clip, along with a possible skill for murder.  (It certainly wouldn’t make him the only one on this show.)

You can check out Harris in all his ruby red sequined glory as well as glimpses of other upcoming events in the video clip below:

Though he figures heavily in the clip, Harris is only slated to appear in two episodes, 11 and 12.  Meanwhile, Harris’ husband David Burtka will play a role in the season finale.  (Burtka previously appeared with Harris in ‘A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas’ and ‘How I Met Your Mother’).  ‘AHS’ alum Jamie Brewer (Nan in ‘Coven’ and Adelaide in ‘Murder House’) will be returning to the series and bears a remarkable resemblance to Chester’s dummy.

What do you hope to see happen in the second half of this season?  Who do you most want to see get what’s coming to them, Elsa, Dandy or Larry?  And who else don’t you expect to see survive to the last episode?  (Dell– looking at you, Strongman.)
