With Robert Downey Jr. revisiting his role as Tony Stark in a major way for the upcoming ‘Captain America: Civil War‘ one has to wonder if Gwyneth Paltrow will be showing up as Pepper Potts as well. Right now nothing is set in stone so it’s hard to say if we’ll be seeing her, though Paltrow was able to chime in on how she feels about the character.

During a recent interview it was asked if she would be returning and her candid response was, “I don’t know; I’ve heard rumors that maybe, and I don’t know. My fingers are crossed. I would love to be Pepper Potts again at some point in my life.”

We’d love to see her return as well! The banter she is able to pull off with Downey has been just about perfect and their relationship has clearly helped to ground his character. Of course, if he is going to be going up against the ideals of Steve Rogers in this next film maybe being grounded isn’t going to help push forward Tony’s different point of view on working for the government that is clearly going to be a sticking point in the movie.

While obviously the ‘Civil War’ story line isn’t set to mirror the events in the comic book event, it should be noted that Potts did not have a major role in that event either. In the comic book version, she was married to Happy Hogan who at the time was gravely wounded during the course of the event, but past that didn’t have much of a voice. That being said, we already won’t see her showing up in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘ and it’s hard to tell if it is because she is busy being the CEO of Stark Industries or if her and Tony have a falling out that will be addressed in the next movie which explains why we won’t be seeing her on screen.

Maybe she’s just taking some time off to get used to Extremis. We’ll see when the movie comes out.
