There is a lot going on with the droids from the upcoming ‘Star Wars: Episode VII‘ as of late. While C3PO and R2D2 have been a long standing backbone in the franchise (they are, after all, the two that have made it through each of the installations in the series), it is still interesting to see what actor Anthony Daniels, who has played C3PO throughout all the films, has to say about what to expect from this anticipated sequel.
Let’s take a quick look!
“No movie sequel is better than The Empire Strikes Back.” You might eat those words for Xmas dinner in 2015. Joy & Indigestion to the world!

After the lackluster trilogy we were given at the hands of Lucas the last time, I’m sure we’re all expecting that whatever we see next will be a fun ride in the ‘Star Wars’ universe. However, to claim that the film will be better than ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ before it’s even finished? That is a bold statement! The fanboy in me wants it to be a true one as well.
While the film isn’t complete yet, filming for ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ is done and a pile of photos from the wrap party have started coming out. The highlight? More shots of R2D2! Only, it looks like he hasn’t been taken care of that much in recent years. Sure, the little guy might be over 30 years old but surely oil baths still exist and someone could have run him through one recently. This R2D2 from the wrap party was an actual “screen-used” one so what you see is what we’ll all be seeing when the movie hits the big screen. He doesn’t look like he’s going to be coming out of the next film unscathed from battle.

Poor R2, hopefully that just ends up being something a quick dip will clean off. Of course, while the droids have been a mainstay in the first six films there is no guarentee that they’ll be around forever.
What do you think of the recent shots of R2? Do you think this is an omen of a pretty intense fight scene to come or will he get dirty from something else?
