When ‘Lego Movie‘ came out we could all agree that it was totally awesome, but what is more awesome than that? Revisiting the world and getting to view it through the eyes of ‘Lego Batman’ who is going to be getting his own spin-off movie! Will Arnett is returning to once again voice the Caped Crusader in what could quite possibly be one of the best Lego movies that will ever be created. Well, the funniest at the very least.

Yes, this Lego Batman is based off of the Batman from the ‘Lego Movie’ and not the one that was from the video games who starred in ‘Lego Batman: The Movie – DC Superheroes Unite.’

Warner Brothers is fast tracking the film with Chris McKay set to direct from a script that is currently being written by Seth Grahame-Smith (‘Beetlejuice 2‘,’Dark Shadows‘). McKay was originally slated to helm the sequel to the ‘Lego Movie’ but apparently that film has been delayed allowing him to be available for ‘Lego Batman.’

The target release date for ‘Lego Batman’ will be in 2017 so sadly we won’t be hearing “I’m Batman” in Arnett’s amazingly arrogant and perfectly pitched gravely voice for a couple more years. While no exact date is set quite yet, chances are it would get the original release date that was reserved for ‘Lego Movie 2.’ At this time the next scheduled Lego themed movie is ‘Ninjago’ which is due out on September 23rd, 2016.

No other voice actor has been announced at this time but Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will all be back on board to produce. I’d love if they found a way to include some of the other characters that we’ve been introduced to so far but I don’t think that they would need to in order to make this a complete blast.

Are you looking forward to ‘Lego Batman’ being released? Do you think this is the Lego movie not only that we need but that we deserve? Share your thoughts below!
