Wargaming and Sony Pictures have announced that free-to-play action MMO ‘World of Tanks‘ is going to get downloadable content based on the upcoming Brad Pitt film ‘Fury.’

To coincide with the release of ‘Fury,’ the downloadable content will include access to an M4A3E8, a World War II-era tank that is featured heavily in the film. It will also come with a crew member who is modeled after Brad Pitt’s character, Wardaddy. Exclusive missions tailored to the movie will be included as well, which can give players access to special items. The content itself will be $30 on Xbox 360 and PC and $15 on iOS platforms.

‘Fury’ is a war film about the exploits of a five-man tank fire-team fighting off Nazi Germany during the end of World War II. It stars Brad Pitt, Shia Lebouf (‘Transformers’), Logan Lerman (‘3:10 to Yuma), John Berhal (‘The Wolf on Wall Street’) and Michael Pena (‘Crash’).

With video games always being an industry that finds itself involved with exclusive promotions and tie-ins, the mix between these two properties looks to be properly suited.

“It made sense,” Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi said to Associated Press about the recent partnership. “Both audiences are interested in historical accuracy, so why don’t we do something together? We didn’t want to overdo it. We appreciate the opportunity, but our audience wants appropriateness. It’s show business. You never know how it’s going to turn out before the premiere.”

Having ‘Fury’ promoted in ‘World of Tanks’ is definitely an example of how far video games have come with their ability to have real-life objects and people be modelled into games. With other games implementing similar techniques as well like ‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ using actor Kevin Spacey, the bar for graphical realism always seems to keep pushing forward with every passing year.

The ‘Fury’-themed downloadable content for ‘World of Tanks’ is available on Xbox 360, PC and iOS up until October 29. ‘Fury’ will open in theaters on October 17.
