The last thing we had heard about the upcoming ‘Underworld 5‘ film is that it would star Theo James and that Kate Beckinsale wouldn’t be returning though at NYCC there have been a slew of new details of what is actually going on. While it was originally mentioned that the film would be a reboot, we now know that nothing is further from the truth and that there is a lot more planned for the franchise than any fan could have previously hoped for!

So what did Len Wiseman end up saying at New York Comic Con that gave us a clear direction on where the series is going? Well there is a ton of big details here though not a lot of little lines:

“There’s a few things being developed right now… There are some characters who we really liked that will be in a kind of a spin-off like we did with ‘Rise of the Lycans,’ then we have another film in the works with Kate as well, and then there’s a television series. So we’re expanding that universe in many ways. They’re all in development. There’s a lot of releases out there that aren’t actually true; it would take too long to wrap up.”

So that means there is a film with Theo James, a film with Kate Beckinsale, and a television show all in development! Tying in the cinematic  universe with a television one? Now, this is a concept that I can fully get behind! If done right and on the right network, this could be just a slew of awesomeness and I suspect we’ll be hearing a lot more about these in the near future. Marvel might have done it first with ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ I’ve been waiting to see more franchises try  this route and if they can tie the movies and series together it’ll be quite fun to watch.
