The CW isn’t the only network delving into the vast library of DC Comics this fall. Fox is betting big on the Batman prequel ‘Gotham’ which depicts the events following Bruce Wayne’s parents murder, as a young James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) rises up in a corrupt Gotham police department (which may include his partner Harvey Bullock). The show will also see an increase in criminal activity as new character Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) appears to come to power in the criminal underworld, while Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) also seems to be gaining footing.
There’s also mention of Arkham Asylum, which Dent states has been closed for over ten years, when the show takes place.
‘Gotham’, which stars Ben McKenzie, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Zabryna Guevara, Erin Richards, Donal Logue, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Mazouz and Carmen Bicondova and will be directed by Danny Cannon, with Bruno Heller executive producing, will air September 22 on Fox.
