One of the most significant comic book adaptations ever is finally going to be released on home video for the first time.  It only took 46 years!

‘Batman’ the live action series that ran from 1966-68 on ABC TV, caused a cultural phenomenon, saturating entertainment with “pop culture” and inspiring “Batmania” a craze that swept the nation and elevated comics and super heroes to new highs. The series starred Adam West as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Burt Ward as Robin/Dick Grayson, Yvonne Craig as Batgirl/Barbara Gordon (third season only), Alan Napier as Alfred/Pennyworth, Neil Hamilton as Commissioner Gordon, Stafford Repp as Chief O’Hara and Madge Blake as Aunt Harriet, plus an all-star cast of villains portrayed by a who’s who of classic Hollywood actors and comedians.

But because the original show was produced by Paramount and the fact that Warner Brothers now owns the rights to the DC catalog, the show has been embroiled in legal limbo for nearly half a century.

Now it’s finally on its way!  Those attending SDCC next weekend and staying at the adjoining hotel will receive exclusive Batman key cards to their rooms.

Note, these need to be pre-ordered!

And the cover art forIn addition, the cover art to both the DVD and BluRay releases have been unveiled.

Here is the DVD version which carries an MSRP of $199, but is only $140 if you pre-order it:

You can pre-order it HERE.

And here is the cover for the BluRay release, which has an MSRP of $269.97 but is $189.98 if you pre-order it:

You can order it HERE.

I know the price tag is hefty, but I actually prefer the one and done release to get everything all at once and it’s highly likely that within a few months, they will start releasing the seasons individually.

Will you be picking ‘Batman’ on DVD or BluRay?
