The first couple of trailers for ‘The Giver‘ have given us an interesting look at the world created by author Lois Lowry and this latest clip is no different! Only, its set to the new song ‘Ordinary Human’ by OneRepublic that was made just for the soundtrack on the film. While I was initially was hesitant about another genre young adult film popping up, I really like the idea behind this one on how the governing body has creatively stripped away freedoms to form their own version of a utopia.

In the latest footage you’ll see below we get new shots of Jonas as he starts to question the world that he lives in as he is learning more about the society and not the lies that he has been told his entire life. He is exploring the world with Fiona and while his mother starts to worry, we see the Chief Elder cry out that “Jonas has become dangerous — he must be stopped.” Things don’t bode well for the future Receiver of Memory as he now has a target on his back.

The lyrics playing through the video are “I’m just an ordinary human, but I never quit / I’m just an ordinary human, but I don’t feel so ordinary today / I’m just a picture-perfect nothing, sometimes I never care / I’ll be a picture-perfect human before the sun comes down today / Just an ordinary human, but I don’t feel so typical today.” This seems perfectly fitting on how Jonas has gone from being a regular kid in this society free of emotion to a rebel who wants others to experience the wonders of emotion and color that he now can see.

The haunting story of THE GIVER centers on Jonas (Brenton Thwaites), a young man who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Yet as he begins to spend time with The Giver (Jeff Bridges), who is the sole keeper of all the community’s memories, Jonas quickly begins to discover the dark and deadly truths of his community’s secret past. With this newfound power of knowledge, he realizes that the stakes are higher than imagined – a matter of life and death for himself and those he loves most. At extreme odds, Jonas knows that he must escape their world to protect them all – a challenge that no one has ever succeeded at before. THE GIVER is based on Lois Lowry’s beloved young adult novel of the same name, which was the winner the 1994 Newbery Medal and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

‘The Giver’ is set to be released on August 15th 2014 and stars Jeff Bridges, Brenton Thwaites, Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes, Alexander Skarsgård, and Taylor Swift
