OK, so while there is no proof that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ will have Nathan Fillion (‘Firefly’,’Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters’) in a brown coat, he will be guest starring in Marvel’s upcoming science fiction mega film! I’ll let you geek out for a moment. I know I had to.
As James Gunn and Nathan Fillion have been long time collaborators, there were rumors a plenty that we would see Fillion in the film. Now that hope has become a reality! As a huge fan of the actor and from all of the previews. This is news I am immensely excited about !
So point blank Gunn was asked if Fillion could end up as Nova in the movie. This is a rumor I had heard before but I honestly didn’t think anything would come of it. I’m happy to be proven wrong! Honestly, Fillion would make an amazing Richard Rider, sadly though, this wishful thinking was instantly shot down. Maybe that can be changed down the line as while the Nova Corps are in the movie, there is no word yet if THE Nova is going to show up. Here was the exact response:

Of course as I mentioned above he will be in the movie. So they did a follow up question asking if he would be in it at all and that is when the SQUEE! moment of geekdom happened.

Who will he be? If it is a fun cameo, could that mean he is another Marvel character? Could he perchance be dressed in a brown coat as a nod to a certain television show we all know him from? Maybe he’ll be an old man in a brown coat talking about how much fun he had in his youth? Honestly I don’t care who he ends up playing. The fact that we are going to see Fillion in the Marvel cinematic universe is enough for me. Even if it is a small role it should be a few moments of perfect geeky bliss for all of us. I do hope though that they end up meeting in a bar as that feels the perfect place where both of these men would end up hanging out at.
