‘Star Wars fans, the wait is nearly over to find out how many of our beloved characters will return to a galaxy near you!

Disney chairman Alan Horn says that an official casting announcement will be coming “very shortly.” According to sources, Horn says  “we’re not prepared to announce it yet, but we will be very shortly.” This writer has heard rumors that a certain temperamental and feisty droid is likely to return! I’m not mentioning names or anything. (wink wink)

“We did some second-unit work in Abu Dhabi,” Horn said, speaking at the Bloomberg and Tribeca Film Festival Business of Entertainment Breakfast Tuesday in New York. “We have to give that the ‘Star Wars’-ian look, if I can use that as an adjective — we need to go to these places.”

Surprisingly, Disney does not yet have a finished budget for Abrams’ “Star Wars project. However it is speculated to rival Marvel Studio’s output. Horn speculated the cost of the film would be “upwards of $175-200 million, that kind of a number… We need to give the audience, essentially, a full meal in return for their affection and devotion and love for these properties.”

The December release date is apparently not written in stone yet either, it has been said that Lucas himself couldn’t be guaranteed the traditional May release date but Horn says “We may revert.”  The bigger question in my opinion, is whether we see film in 2016 or 2017?

Lucas, in case some of our Faithful Followers were yet unaware, is going to be involved in a consultant capacity. As Horn puts it, “George is the Father of all this, and he’s a very valued person.”

So stay tuned fans, ScienceFiction.com will bring you the news as soon as it comes across our desk! Meanwhile, leave your comments below, and as always, we appreciate your input!
