When news first broke about ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, many fans who were unfamiliar with the titular villain that originated in Ed Brubaker’s amazing run on the Star Spangled Avenger’s comic book were angry that some news outlets (including this one) spoke openly about his true identity. If you’re one of those people who still doesn’t want to know, then I’ll save it for the next paragraph, but based on the latest featurette for the upcoming Phase Two film, it appears as if Marvel Studios doesn’t really consider it to be a spoiler anyway.

Previously, we got to know Agent Natasha Romanoff’s part in Cap’s next adventure as we got to learn more about the Black Widow thanks to a special behind the scenes look at Marvel’s next blockbuster film. Now, we’re getting the same treatment for the ghost from Steve Rogers’ past played by Sebastian Stan known as the Winter Soldier. In the newest promotional video for the follow up to ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, the cast and crew talk about the return of Bucky Barnes into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how his presence on the other side of the law affects the Sentinel of Liberty’s mind and mission. What do you think about Cap’s state of mind when he comes face to face with his former friend as the Winter Soldier? And what do you think happens in the story that’s bigger than this reveal since the studio has no problem sharing the true identity of the villain (which some may consider a spoiler) in their promotional material? Share your thoughts and theories in the comment section.

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Emily VanCamp hits theaters on April 4, 2014.
