Last month, we learned that Kim Soo Hyun would be joining the cast of ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’. At the time, besides learning that Joss Whedon himself oversaw the casting of this role by traveling to Asia in December 2013, very little was known about what part the Korean actress would be playing. But now, she has made a few comments about her involvement in the project.
After appearing in several K-dramas, it’s understandable for Soo Hyun to be excited for her first part in a movie, especially since it’s a Marvel Studios production. The actress, who also goes by Claudia Kim, took to her personal Twitter to express her excitement when she posted the following picture along with this message:
“After a long wait, I’m so happy to be back with great news. I have a lot to do ahead of me, but for now, the words ‘Welcome to the Marvel Universe’ are amazing and kind of overwhelming. I was a fan of Marvel Comics, and if you really like something it looks like fate can make it happen.”
In terms of who she will be playing, a Marvel official discussed this with Korean news agency OSEN, but the unnamed individual didn’t let anything slip through the cracks:
“It would be a spoiler, so we can’t tell you which character Kim Soo Hyung will play. Marvel always prohibits telling too much about the story. Her character is already decided and the scene is already written so we cast Kim Soo Hyun, but we can’t let you know about her character. We only can say that her character is a substantial supporting role.”
While that’s still not much to go on, at least we know that she’s a “substantial supporting role”. Maybe we’ll find out more when Whedon moves his crew to Incheon City, South Korea, where they plan to do some shooting for the highly anticipated follow up to ‘The Avengers’. Until then, do you have any ideas about who Kim Soo Hyun will be playing? Speculate away in the comments.
‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ assembles in theaters on May 1, 2015.
