I think more than a few of ours dreams came true when the Kickstarter for “Inceptor”, a game based on the acclaimed film, ‘Inception‘, was announced. Already well over their funding goal nearly a month and a half before their end date, it’s clear that fans of the movie still exist. Well, that and the game mechanics look fascinating.

Within the dream–or, on the board, depending how good your imagination is– the player can traverse different levels, though one has to be careful of falling into limbo. You also have to assemble your team in order to build and extract according to your mission. Essentially, you get to be a dream thief. Awesome.

The basic concept, according to the Kickstarter is as follows:

“Inceptor is a board game that takes place in the dream world. The board represents the inside of a dreamer’s mind, who is known as the Mark. Each player is trying to plant an idea in the Mark’s dream, hoping that when he wakes, he will carry out their chosen task. The key is to make your task seem achievable to the Mark and to make sure he believes it was his own idea from its inception. In order to do this the dream needs to be so real, that when the Mark wakes up, the planted idea sticks and he performs the mission without a second thought.”

For those of you whose thoughts went to copyright violation, according to “Inceptor” Kickstarter page, the WB has indicated that while the game will not be official, they are okay with its creation.

While most of the specials have all been snapped up, there is still time to back the project and get the game! The “Inceptor” Kickstarter ends on April 10, 2014. What are you waiting for!
