Meet Sabine, the latest addition to the cast of ‘Star Wars Rebels’, the new Disney XD series that will bridge the gap between ‘Revenge of the Sith’ and ‘A New Hope’. Sabine will be voiced by actress Tiya Sircar and in a move that should delight fans, she is Mandalorian. Considering the popularity of Boba Fett and Jango Fett (well more Boba), this should score her some points with fans. Her character is described as “sassy,” “spunky,” “feisty” and has “a little bit of attitude.” (Which is the description of like every female cartoon character… like all of them.)
She is a weapons and demolishion expert with an affinity for tagging, leaving her distinctive graffiti including the famous Rebel phoenix symbol at the scene of her sabotaging of the Empire’s strongholds.
“She’s definitely one who’s turned against the Empire and that’s going to be to the Rebels’ benefit,” says executive producer Dave Filon. Joel Aron, CG supervisor of lighting and FX, says, “She’s adding something that we haven’t really seen before in the Star Wars universe. You have a character that is expressively creative through art — whether it’s the color of her hair or what she’s done to her armor.”
Sabine joins Zeb (Steve Blum) the group’s muscle, Ezra (Taylor Gray) a street smart con artist with the power to tap into The Force and Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.), a survivor of the Jedi massacre.

The new series debuts this fall in a one-hour special on the Disney Channel before shifting over to Disney XD for its regular run.
